Example #4- Writing aimed at upper management within a company
In the corporate entertainment industry, creative teams generate new attraction concepts. After the arduous task of designing the attraction, the team must "pitch" the project to the company's upper management for final approval. This application challenges writers to produce visually evocative copy designed to "paint a picture" in the reader's mind
Client:
A seasonal theme park
Assignment:Describe an Asian-themed live animal presentation (excerpt)
The wistful strains of the ancient Chinese musical instrument, the guqin, envelope the audience with a mournful sound pouring like tears from the beaten strings. Suddenly, the tigers appear, forcing a collective gasp from the crowd. With the attention of the spectators riveted to the live animals, the human performers quietly exit the scene. At the same time, two trainers appear wielding long sticks. From the end of one stick, an Asian fan flutters temptingly... a colorful butterfly kite dangles from the other. The sight of these tantalizing prop sticks instantly triggers the tigers' predation instincts. As the trainers race all over the set, the great animals give chase, running and leaping, pawing and clawing at the dangling props. When the tigers catch up with their "prey," they gleefully tear the props to shreds with the same playful fervor with which a kitten might attack a ball of yarn.
